Georgia Trip a Success!
March 21, 2011
The crew returned home from sunny Gainesville, GA on Sunday at 6:30am. We were very lucky to have gorgeous weather all week, with only one day of rain on Tuesday. The team had a successful week of practices and all the athletes got readjusted to being in boats and not on ergs! Double practices and some yoga kept us all busy, but there was still time to get to enjoy each others company and the sun! On Wednesday the whole team enjoyed the nice weather by having a big picnic in a park on the water. Games, playgrounds, and delicious food kept the whole team happy for a wonderful afternoon off. The end of the week provided the team with some racing opportunities against Smith and Franklin Marshall. The scrimmages definitely got us excited to move into the racing season! Skit night on Friday provided a lot of laughs for everyone, with all 4 squads and our coaches acting out entertaining stories from our week! We were sad to leave on Saturday, but everyone reflected on how fun the week was during our long 18 hour bus ride back to Ithaca. Keep an eye out for some pictures that will be uploaded soon!
We will begin practices on our inlet this week in very different conditions than GA. Lots of cold weather this week will be an adjustment but I know I’m just excited to get out on our home course this coming weekend for our first race, even if it is freezing!
