Away Racing Continues, even in the snow
April 26, 2011
The crew was on the road again this past weekend and raced in Pittsfield, MA at Williams’ home course. We arrived Saturday morning to snow on the ground and had a cold and wet morning of races. There was a lot of tough competition in a jam packed morning of races. The crews faced Williams, Bates and Coast Guard, some of our biggest competitors this season. The women’s 1v and 2v boats both finished 3rd behind Williams and Bates, with the races being closely contested early on. On the men’s side, the first novice boat was the only Ithaca boat to claim a victory and continues their undefeated season!
With less than ideal conditions continuing throughout all the races, everyone was very thankful for the warm (and delicious) food provided by our wonderful parents! We were all well fed as we loaded the buses to de-thaw and return to Ithaca.
There is finally some warmer weather this week and the crew is ready for a busy week of training. The Bombers are preparing for New York States Championships this weekend and the excitement is certainly building around the boathouse. There are sure to be some great races to watch as we battle it out for a chance to be the top crew in NY!!!
