ITHACA COLLEGE SCULLING – RACE ITINERARY 10/5/19

Race: Small Boat Challenge
Location: Mercer Lake – Caspersen Boathouse launch site.
1 S. Post Road, West Windsor, NJ

Participating Schools: St. Joe’s, Ithaca

Departure Time/ Location: 7:30am Saturday / A&E Center Loading Dock. We will send bagels & cream cheese on the bus, but if you need something more/ different, please plan accordingly.

Drive Time: 4.5 hours to Wegman’s near racecourse.
15 min Wegman’s to Caspersen Boathouse.
4.5 hours home.
Bus movies rated PG-13 or milder are welcome.

Ithaca to Racecourse: Get on NY-17 E in Owego from NY-96B S and NY-96 S.
Continue on NY-17 E.
Take I-81 S, I-476 S, I-276 E and US-1 N to West Windsor Township.
Take the Mercer County 533 S/Quaker Bridge Rd exit from US-1 N.
Cross over US-1 and stay in the right lane to turn right onto Nassau Park Blvd.
Follow Nassau Park Blvd around the shopping center to the Wegman’s.
Wegman’s: 240 Nassau Park Blvd. Princeton, NJ.
Return to Quakerbridge Rd. (either through the shopping plaza or from US-1 S)
Take County Rd 533/Quakerbridge Rd South. Turn left onto Village Rd W.
From Village Rd W, turn right onto S Post Rd, & Follow S Post Rd to the end.
Buses may be able to park in the lot, but may alternately be asked to park in the shoulder along Post Road.

Overnight Accommodation: None needed. This is a day trip.

Meal Arrangements: Bus will stop at Wegman’s for lunch before arriving at the racecourse. At that time, athletes should purchase items for dinner that will last in a cooler until the bus ride home. Lunch and dinner will be put on the IC credit card. Athletes, please try to keep the total for lunch and dinner under $22.

Event Schedule: 1st flights run 3:30-3:50 pm. 2nd flights run 5:30-5:50pm.

Support Tent: Time between races is extremely limited, so snack items should be geared toward fast replenishment & ease of digestion. (Gatorade, chocolate milk, fruit, Gu, granola bars). A google doc has been set up to help coordinate these items. Fans, please SAVE RECEIPTS from any purchases you make for the tent & hand them off to a coach at the regatta. We are happy to reimburse you for your purchases with cash.

Estimated Return to Ithaca: Depart course by 7pm. Expect to arrive in Ithaca around midnight.

Race Notes: Athletes will race 2 flights of 2k – championship style, 7 lanes across on a fully buoyed course. Crews will race their own boat category in the first flight & may be re-arranged into more competitive flights for the 2nd round.

Times from the 2 flights will be totaled to determine the winner in each category.

Bring your race uniform and any spare, dry layers you might want for the 2nd race. Remember to bring a set of warm, dry clothes for the ride home.
